Birth doulas are trained labor support professionals who attend to the physical and emotional comfort needs of a woman throughout her birth. A doula's goal is to help a woman have a safe and satisfying birth experience. Doula support is known to provide the following effects:
- Shorter labors
- Reduced need for pain medication
- Reduced request for epidural anesthesia
- Fewer episiotomies
- Fewer forcepts and vacuum deliveries
- Fewer cesarean sections
- Improved outcomes for baby
- Better mother-infant bonding
- Improves breastfeeding rates
- Greater maternal satisfaction
Birth Doula Services include:
- A minimum of 3 prenatal visits during which we will become acquainted, talk about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; your needs and desires for your birth, birth plans, comfort measures during labor, useful items to have with your for labor, and more.
- 24 hour on call service beginning at 37 weeks.
- Continuous doula support for your labor and birth.
- 2 postpartum visits for support and to discuss your birth experience.
- Continuous phone and email support throughout your pregnancy and postpartum period.
Pricing:
I offer 1 free consultation per pregnant couple, any additional consultations are $25.00
Prices are based on a sliding scale fee ranging from $500 - $700 and will be determined before entering into a formal agreement. A $200 deposit is due upon entering into a formal agreement. Payment arrangements can be made at this time, however the remainder will be due by the time you reach 38 weeks.
